James (Kayliang) Ong is an experienced professional with over 35 years of experience in enterprise technology, digital transformation, and venture building across Asia, the US, and Europe. He specializes in AI, from basic and application research to startup incubation and acceleration, product development, digital transformation, and project fulfillment. James has worked with Fortune 500 companies and tech startups for technology-enabled business process transformation across multiple generations of technology revolution, including AI, Knowledge Discovery, Data Mining, CRM, Mobile Internet, Cloud Computing, Omnichannel Retail, Virtual World, Blockchain, Web3, and Metaverse. He has industry sector experience covering Education, Consumer Retail, Healthcare, Financial Services, Government, High Tech, Telecommunications, and Automotive. James is actively engaged in entrepreneurial ventures by investing, incubating, and mentoring technology startups and growing some of them successfully to matured companies. He has published over 25 scientific and business papers on academic journals, books, and monographs, as well as AI industry standards reports. James is also an invited speaker at various tech and academic and industry conferences, universities, and research labs in Singapore and China. Currently, James is a Mentor at the Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC), a contemporary platform built upon strong public-private partnerships. In partnership with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, ARTC has a membership consortium with over 90 members, ranging from global multinational corporations (MNCs), public agencies, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to startups focusing on three core industry clusters – Energy & Infrastructure, Transport & Engineering, and Consumer & Modern Services. ARTC’s expertise in advanced manufacturing and remanufacturing accelerates the transfer of innovation from applied research to industrial applications and solutions. James has also worked as an Advisor, Program Advisory Committee (PAC), School of Business at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and a Mentor, Venture Building at NTUitive, the Innovation and Enterprise (I&E) Company of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore). James holds a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems, a Master's degree in Computer Science, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (Highest Honor) from the University of Texas.
